Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, the Director, Research and Business Development will oversee research initiatives and drive strategic growth activities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and coordinating research programs and related administrative activities
  • Promoting KASNEB qualifications locally, regionally, and internationally
  • Ensuring effective management and compliance of research initiatives with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Designing and introducing new research programs
  • Identifying partnership opportunities and negotiating collaboration agreements
  • Building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships
  • Ensuring research standards are upheld across all programs
  • Developing and implementing strategies for partnerships, consultancy services, and business development
  • Coordinating with professional bodies, agencies, and relevant institutions in research activities
  • Facilitating patent and copyright registration processes

Requirements / Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • At least fifteen (15) years of cumulative work experience, including three (3) years at the level of Deputy Director or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Education, Finance, Law, ICT, Forensic Examination, or a related field from a recognized institution
  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution
  • Membership in a relevant professional body in good standing (where applicable)
  • Leadership course certificate lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution
  • Valid practicing certificate where applicable
  • Evidence of publication in refereed journals
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • Proven managerial and professional competence demonstrated through performance results

Salary & Benefits (Estimated Range)

Basic Salary Scale:
KSh. 195,000 x 16,250 – 260,000 x 21,250 – 345,000 (8 increments)

Terms of Service:
Five (5) year contract, renewable once subject to satisfactory performance.
