Duties and Responsibilities
The Biostatistician/Bioinformatics Officer will support research teams by applying sound statistical methods and ensuring accurate data analysis. Key responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the design of research projects using appropriate scientific and statistical techniques
- Supporting the use of baseline and historical data to develop efficient and reliable analysis plans
- Assisting in planning data collection approaches, including defining sample sizes and sampling strategies
- Adapting statistical methods to address research questions in biomedicine and related fields
- Supporting the development and testing of experimental designs, sampling frameworks, and analytical approaches
- Assisting with statistical analysis and interpretation of research data to identify patterns, relationships, and significant findings
- Participating in interdisciplinary discussions to ensure statistical methods are suitable for the research context
- Reviewing data sources to assess reliability, quality, and usability
- Evaluating statistical procedures to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and validity of results
- Identifying trends and factors within datasets that may influence research outcomes
- Preparing datasets for analysis by organizing, cleaning, validating, and adjusting raw data
- Contributing to the presentation of results using tables, graphs, charts, and summaries
- Supporting the development of reports and research outputs for internal and external audiences

Requirements / Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Informatics, Computer Science, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution (mandatory)

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and explain data findings (mandatory)

Salary & Benefits (Estimated Range)
- Estimated monthly salary: KES 80,000 – KES 120,000, based on job grade KMR 06
- One-year contract, renewable subject to availability of funds and satisfactory performance
- Three-month probation period at the start of the contract
- Benefits and allowances will be provided in accordance with institutional policies
