Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide academic leadership and contribute to the growth of the Bachelor of Science (Sport Science) programme. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading curriculum design, review, and improvement processes
- Preparing course outlines and developing effective teaching and learning materials
- Delivering lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Supervising postgraduate and undergraduate research projects
- Initiating and participating in research projects within the area of specialization
- Publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals, books, and book chapters
- Conducting continuous assessment of students and evaluating academic performance
- Maintaining accurate records of attendance, assignments, and continuous assessments
- Moderating examinations internally to maintain academic standards
- Participating in departmental, school, and senate discussions on examination results
- Organizing and participating in academic seminars at departmental and school levels
- Attending departmental, school, and senate meetings where required
- Taking part in conferences, workshops, symposia, and professional forums
- Supervising students during industrial attachments, internships, and teaching practice
- Engaging in consultancy assignments related to the area of expertise
- Supporting income-generating academic programmes within the university
- Generating innovation initiatives and intellectual property in the discipline
- Performing editorial and peer-review roles for academic publications
- Serving as a patron for academic clubs and student organizations
- Participating in statutory and ad hoc university committees
- Keeping updated with current developments in teaching, research, and innovation
- Performing any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements / Qualifications
Applicants must meet all of the following minimum requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from an accredited and recognized university in the relevant field
- An earned Doctorate (PhD) or equivalent doctoral qualification from an accredited and recognized university in the relevant field
- At least three (3) years of continuous university teaching experience at the level of Lecturer
OR
Six (6) years of relevant research or industry experience - A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, with at least twenty-four (24) publication points from refereed scholarly journals
- Successful supervision of postgraduate students to completion (at least 3 Master’s students or 1 PhD and 1 Master’s student) as a Lecturer or equivalent
- Registration with the relevant professional body, where applicable
