Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior Lecturer will play a key role in academic leadership, research, and student mentorship within the School of Education. Responsibilities include:
- Leading curriculum design, development, and review processes
- Preparing and updating teaching materials to support effective learning
- Delivering lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Supervising postgraduate and undergraduate research projects
- Participating in the development of research proposals and academic projects
- Publishing scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals, books, and book chapters
- Conducting continuous assessment and evaluating student performance
- Maintaining accurate student academic records, including attendance and assessments
- Moderating examinations internally to maintain academic standards
- Discussing examination results at departmental, school, and senate levels where applicable
- Participating in academic seminars, conferences, symposia, and workshops
- Providing consultancy services related to areas of specialization
- Engaging in innovation initiatives and generating intellectual property
- Supervising students during teaching practice, internships, and industrial attachments
- Serving as a patron to academic clubs and student organizations
- Participating in university committees, both statutory and ad hoc
- Attending departmental, school, and senate meetings for proper governance
- Undertaking editorial and peer-review roles in academic publications
- Contributing to income-generating academic programs
- Engaging in community service and professional outreach
- Performing any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor

Requirements / Qualifications
To qualify for appointment as Senior Lecturer (Grade AC 13), applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from an accredited and recognized university in the relevant field
- An earned Doctorate (PhD) or equivalent doctoral qualification from an accredited and recognized university in the relevant field
- At least three (3) years of continuous university teaching experience at the level of Lecturer
OR
Six (6) years of relevant research or industry experience - A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, with at least twenty-four (24) publication points from refereed scholarly journals
- Successful supervision of postgraduate students to completion (at least 3 Master’s students or 1 PhD and 1 Master’s student) as a Lecturer or equivalent
- Registration with the relevant professional body, where applicable
