Duties and Responsibilities
The Partnerships Specialist will lead external engagement and partnership coordination for UNDP Sudan from Nairobi. Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the main focal point for donor and partner engagement outside Sudan
- Preparing strategic briefs, talking points, and tailored materials for development partners
- Reviewing and strengthening donor proposals, concept notes, and reports to meet quality standards
- Supporting programme teams with results frameworks, theories of change, and budget alignment
- Coordinating internal proposal review and submission processes
- Monitoring donor priorities, funding trends, and regional financing opportunities
- Managing relationships with selected bilateral donors and International Financial Institutions (IFIs)
- Organising donor meetings, missions, and high-level engagement forums
- Leading alternative financing and innovative resource mobilisation initiatives
- Coordinating with UNDP regional and global units on partnerships and financing strategies
- Sharing donor intelligence and partnership updates with programme teams
- Supervising and mentoring a Programme Analyst based in Nairobi
- Building staff capacity on donor compliance and proposal quality

Requirements / Qualifications
Education
- Master’s degree in International Development, Economics, Political Science, Social Sciences, or a related field with at least 7 years of experience, OR
- Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with at least 9 years of relevant experience
Experience & Skills
- Extensive experience in partnerships, resource mobilisation, and donor engagement
- Strong background in crisis, post-crisis, or recovery settings
- Proven experience in proposal development, review, and quality assurance
- Experience working with International Financial Institutions and bilateral donors
- Strong programme and project management skills
- Advanced report writing, data analysis, and presentation skills
- Proficiency in office software and web-based management systems
- Ability to work across teams and manage multiple priorities
Language
- Fluency in spoken and written English (required)
- Knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage
Salary & Benefits (Estimated Range)
- Estimated monthly salary: KES 650,000 – KES 850,000 (UN P4 equivalent, gross)
- Benefits may include medical cover, leave entitlements, and other allowances in line with UNDP policies
