Duties and Responsibilities
The Electrical and Solar Technician will handle a combination of electrical maintenance, solar system management, and general support tasks. Key duties include:
Electrical Installation and Maintenance (60%)
- Perform planned preventive maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment of electrical systems
- Respond quickly to electrical faults and breakdowns while maintaining high service standards
- Carry out installations in line with recognized safety standards, industry practices, and Kenyan regulations
- Complete assigned electrical tasks, including testing, repairs, and reporting
- Conduct inspections and produce required reports such as installation certificates and condition reports
- Support team members by sharing technical knowledge and promoting best practices
- Identify materials required for projects and assist in preparing work plans for upgrades and compliance improvements
- Promote and maintain safe working practices across all activities
Solar System Maintenance (20%)
- Monitor performance of solar photovoltaic systems, including panels, wiring, and inverters
- Diagnose and resolve faults in solar equipment such as grid-tied inverters
- Conduct regular inspections, cleaning, and performance checks on solar panels
- Test electrical connections, grounding systems, and protective devices
- Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and ensure system efficiency
- Replace faulty components and maintain system functionality
- Communicate progress and updates to both technical and non-technical team members
Health, Safety, and Driving (10%)
- Support health and safety compliance by assisting with risk assessments
- Supervise contractors to ensure adherence to safety procedures
- Report any incidents or hazards promptly
- Use and maintain personal protective equipment appropriately
- Assist in transporting materials and personnel using assigned vehicles
- Ensure vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned, and parked after use
Administrative and Communication Duties (10%)
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and system performance
- Submit reports and documentation to supervisors in a timely manner
- Monitor emails and internal communications regularly
- Participate in training sessions and organizational activities

Requirements / Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Experience
