Duties and Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for managing litigation matters, supporting investigations, and providing legal advisory services across departments.
Litigation and Case Management
- Oversee legal cases involving the organization and its clients
- Maintain an updated system for tracking ongoing and upcoming litigation matters
- Support or represent clients in court where necessary
- Coordinate with internal teams and external lawyers on legal strategies
- Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, affidavits, and submissions
- Monitor court timelines, deadlines, and case progress
- Track and manage legal costs related to litigation
Gender Justice and Client Support
- Provide legal assistance in cases involving gender-based violence and child protection
- Work closely with social workers and community teams to support affected individuals
- Guide clients through legal procedures including reporting and court processes
- Contribute to awareness initiatives related to legal rights and protections
Employment and Workplace Legal Matters
- Assist HR teams in handling employee disputes and disciplinary processes
- Draft and review employment-related documents to ensure compliance
- Support internal investigations related to misconduct
- Represent the organization in hearings when required
Investigations and Safeguarding
- Conduct investigations into misconduct, safeguarding concerns, or policy violations

- Ensure investigations follow legal standards and internal procedures
- Maintain confidentiality and fairness throughout investigation processes
Fraud and Compliance Investigations
- Investigate cases of fraud, corruption, or misuse of resources
- Work with finance and audit teams to assess risks and recommend actions
- Support improvements in policies and controls based on findings
Legal Advisory and Risk Management
- Provide guidance on legal risks related to programs and operations
- Identify potential legal or reputational risks and suggest mitigation measures
- Escalate complex issues to senior legal leadership
Coordination with External Stakeholders
- Liaise with courts, law enforcement agencies, and regulatory bodies
- Work with external legal counsel when necessary
- Support preparation of legal strategies and documentation
Gender and Inclusion Support
- Collaborate with gender-focused teams to support justice initiatives
- Track gender-based violence cases and maintain proper records
- Engage with partners such as police and judicial bodies to support case progress

Requirements / Qualifications
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree
- Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law
Professional Experience
- 4–7 years of experience in litigation, dispute resolution, or related legal work
- Admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
- Active membership with the Law Society of Kenya
- Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public certification is an advantage
Skills and Competencies
- Strong legal drafting and analytical skills
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters professionally
- Experience in employment law within Kenya
