Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and strengthening maritime security systems across Kenyan waters and ports. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting Ship Security Assessments and approving Ship Security Plans
  • Processing applications and issuing International Ship Security Certificates

  • Responding to maritime security alerts, including ship security alert system triggers
  • Conducting Port Facility Security Assessments and audits for international operations
  • Performing security evaluations for KMA premises and assets
  • Developing and implementing organizational security plans
  • Managing piracy reporting and information-sharing systems
  • Ensuring effective measures are in place to prevent piracy and armed robbery at sea
