Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and strengthening maritime security systems across Kenyan waters and ports. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting security risk assessments for ships and port facilities
- Determining which port facilities require approved Port Facility Security Plans
- Setting and updating maritime security levels for ships and port facilities
- Providing security updates to vessels entering or operating within Kenyan ports
- Monitoring compliance and enforcing security regulations for ships in port
- Advising on when a Declaration of Security is required
- Delivering maritime security training to relevant stakeholders
- Evaluating and auditing security measures at port facilities, private jetties, and cargo handling sites
- Reviewing and approving security plans for cargo handling facilities and port operations
- Issuing security certificates to compliant facilities
- Conducting Ship Security Assessments and approving Ship Security Plans
- Processing applications and issuing International Ship Security Certificates
- Inspecting implementation of ship and port security plans
- Responding to maritime security alerts, including ship security alert system triggers
- Conducting Port Facility Security Assessments and audits for international operations
- Performing security evaluations for KMA premises and assets
- Developing and implementing organizational security plans
- Managing piracy reporting and information-sharing systems
- Ensuring effective measures are in place to prevent piracy and armed robbery at sea

Experience:
