Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring maritime safety and compliance with international standards. Main duties include:
- Enforce shipping safety standards, including vessel construction and navigation regulations
- Develop and maintain navigational aids under the Authority’s control
- Ensure all navigation systems meet required specifications and are properly maintained
- Issue notices and updates on navigation hazards or deficiencies
- Monitor and report maritime safety risks and conditions affecting navigation
- Investigate navigation-related hazards and maritime incidents
- Issue navigational warnings in line with international standards
- Process and approve exemptions or equivalencies related to maritime safety regulations
- Prepare and submit reports to international maritime bodies where required
- Collect and analyze meteorological data relevant to maritime operations
- Provide weather updates and warnings to ships
- Develop procedures for marine meteorological services
- Establish ship routing systems, reporting systems, and vessel traffic services

- Enforce maritime laws and regulations related to navigation
