About UN Women
The task of promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment falls within the purview of UN Women, the organization known for promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment. The Secretary-General made the decision in his report that the new organization should aim to increase the scope and effectiveness of the UN system’s overall efforts to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment, as opposed to absolving other UN agencies of their duty to do so.
