📋 Organization Overview
The Embassy of the United States of America in Nairobi — often referred to as “Embassy Nairobi” by the U.S. State Department — represents the official diplomatic presence of the United States in Kenya. It was first inaugurated in the heart of Nairobi on March 2, 1964, marking the beginning of formal diplomatic ties between the two nations.
However, tragedy struck in 1998 when the original building became the site of a devastating terrorist attack. In response, a new, more secure embassy complex was built in Gigiri, a peaceful suburb of Nairobi, and officially opened its doors in 2003.
