About IFAD
An international financial organization and specialized UN agency, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) strives to combat hunger and poverty in developing nations’ rural areas. It is the only multilateral development agency that only addresses food security and rural economies.
With its main office in Rome, IFAD works on more than 200 projects in around 100 nations. It provides funding and sponsorship for projects that enhance market accessibility, build rural infrastructure, train farmers in more efficient technologies, build resilience against climate change, and manage land and water better.
With 177 member states, IFAD collaborates with members of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) as well as the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Since it’s founding in 2021, IFAD has arranged an additional US$31 billion in domestic and international co-financing in addition to providing US$23.2 billion in loans and grants.
