About UNICRI
One of the five United Nations Research and Training Institutes is the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI). The institute was established in 1968 with the goal of helping nations around the world develop and execute better criminal justice and crime prevention programs.
Goal 16 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which is centered on fostering inclusive, just, and peaceful societies free from crime and violence, is the present emphasis of its work. The board of trustees is in charge of the institute, which operates independently. Currently, it has about 100 employees divided across its larger network of locations and its headquarters in Turin.
